Motor show misses target

The 36th Bangkok International Motor Show drew to a close on Monday, failing to achieve its target to fetch orders for up to 40,000 units.

The organiser announced that total reservation during the 12-day event was 37,027 units. The number of visitors stood unchanged from last year at 1.7 million.
It attributed lower-than-expected activities to sluggish economic growth, high household debt as well as financial institutions' strict lending rules.
Toyota won the highest orders, 6,144 units. It was trailed by Honda, 5,069 units; Mazda, 4,584 units; Isuzu, 4,485 units: and Nissan, 4,042 units.
