NLA to set up panel to prepare organic laws

National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has set up a committee to study the new constitution to prepare organic laws.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai clarified that the new committee will not have the authority to amend the draft charter.  However, the panel will be in charge of drafting various organic laws upon the completion of the new constitution.
Furthermore, Prof. Pornpetch revealed that the NLA has yet to be requested to add a provision in the current 2014 interim constitution calling for a referendum of the new charter.
He said the Constitution Drafting Committee must first petition the National Council for Peace and Order and the Cabinet to consider the amendment.
