Gold-mine workers petition for pending wages

FIFTY gold mine workers in Loei's Wang Saphung district yesterday filed a petition with the provincial authority in a bid to get their employer, Thung Kham Ltd Co, to pay Bt15.3 million in overdue wages to 117 workers.

The group, led by Nonthawat Sangsurat, submitted the petition with labour protection and welfare official Sompong Kloyklaew.
Nonthawat explained that the 117 workers had not been paid since the operations at the mine were suspended last May.
He said the company had promised to pay them when the minerals were sold.
