Police said they would ascertain whether this attack was related to similar cases in Nakhon Pathom and Samut Songkhram, where the serial rapist remains at large.
The victim told police that the man, in his 30s or 40s, broke into her home, assaulted her and then raped her.
However, she couldn’t provide more details as she was still in shock, said Pol Maj-General Chaiyaporn Panit-attra, provincial police chief, who had led officers to inspect the scene.
The victim’s son, 58, told police that he lived nearby and woke up about 3am to see a man in his 30s or 40s wearing only a towel leaving his mother’s home in a hurry, so he rushed to her aid and took her to a hospital.
Chaiyaporn said police have started questioning people in the neighbourhood and collecting DNA samples from some of the men.
