Tourists warned against jellyfishes off Phi Phi Islands

Krabi chief public health officer Doctor Panas Soponpong Monday warned tourists against swimming at beaches around the Phi Phi islands where a lot of jelly fishes were spotted after some tourists reportedly suffered skin burns when they touch the jelly fi

A big school of red jellyfishes, 5cm in length, has been found at several spots near the islands in the past few days. On contact, the jellyfishes cause rash and severe skin irritation.
The doctor said officials have yet to check the type of jellyfishes.
He quashed the rumours that they were connected with last week's quake that rocked Phang Nga. He said that investigation is underway.
