SET index nearly 2-month low

The Stock Exchange of Thailand index ended at 1,485.72 points on Tuesday, as global stock markets fall on fears of Greece's cash crisis and eurozone future.

The index lost 15.58 points today or 1.04 per cent, on low turnover of Bt36 billion.
Last week, on May 7, the index also fell below the 1,500 psychological level, to 1,498.31 points. Today's closing is the lowest in nearly two months, when the index touched 1,496.51 points on March 30.
Europe's main stock markets also slumped on Tuesday, mirroring sentiment across Asia and on Wall Street over fears about Greece's cash crisis and eurozone future.
"European equities are trading sharply lower... extending yesterday's losses after Greece's increasingly dire financial situation is once again taking centre stage," Markus Huber, senior analyst at brokers Peregrine and Black, told AFP.
Greece was forced to tap into an emergency account in order to meet a debt repayment of 750 million euros ($845 million) due Tuesday to the International Monetary Fund, a central bank source told AFP.
"That was an initiative by the Bank of Greece's governor to break the deadlock," said the source.
Greece's financial situation is increasingly dire and Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis warned that his country risked running out of cash in two weeks if no deal was reached by then with its international creditors.
