The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) yesterday amended the Criminal Code to include the possession, distribution and production of child pornography as a criminal offence and increased the penalty to a maximum of 10 years' imprisonment and Bt200,000 fi

The current penalty for these offences is seven years in jail and/or up to Bt140,000 in fines.
The committee tasked with examining the law also clarified the definition of child pornography to the NLA, which then passed the amendment 193:1, with two abstentions. This law is meant to be in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and will confront the supposed increase in the distribution of child pornography.
