Ex-royal aide re-enacts alleged crimes

FORMER grand chamberlain Montree Sotangkoon was yesterday brought to re-enact his alleged crimes at two locations in Bangkok after being charged with abuse of power and lese majeste.

City police chief Sriwara Rangsipramanakul said the case would be submitted to public prosecutors within 10 days.
On a second day of re-enactments, 53-year-old Montree, who was previously an aide to former princess Srirasmi, was brought to an office in Watthana district in the morning to re-enact an incident where he allegedly collected an envelope containing a Bt2.51-million kickback for a Phetchaburi land deal.
In the afternoon, he was brought to a bank in Bang Rak district where he allegedly collected another Bt2.62-million kickback for a deal involving a nearby plot in Phetchaburi.
He was later brought to the city police’s head office for additional interrogation before being sent back to detention – a new training centre for Army conscripts in Thawee Watthana district.
This afternoon police are scheduled to accompany Montree for a re-enactment at his home in the Rama 3 area.
