Prayut on Tuesday vowed that the laws must be upheld regarding to the European Union and international rights organistions’ growing call for the junta to immediately release the students.
Watchara said the prime minister must calm down and be lenient to the students instead of taking drastic actions against them.
“The government is a more senior so it should take into account political principle when dealing with the students instead of adhering to the laws strictly,” Watchara said.
“If the government argues that the students violate the laws, they will also argue that the government has come to office by violating the rule of law as well.”
