Narathiwat - Two troops cut down in a hail of gunfire in their pick-up truck Thursday by insurgents who also torched the vehicle and bodies, police said.
Police said Corporal Prasit Nakhararuang and Pvt Yusop Tehli were shot and killed while they were returning to their base after they went to Tambon Ruesoh’s downtown area.
The ambush took place in front of Blukahuru Mosque on a village road.
An unknown number of insurgents, who were hiding on the roadside, opened fire at the pick-up truck before they came out from the hiding and poured petrol over the vehicle and bodies and set fire and left the scene.
