Two soldiers killed in South honoured posthumously

MEDALS of honour were awarded posthumously to two soldiers killed in the violence-plagued deep South Friday by Fourth Army chief General Prakarn Chonlayut.

Sergeant Prasit Nakarareung and Private Yusob Tehlee of the Narathiwat 30th Special Task Force were killed on Thursday. The general provided financial assistance to their families at the victims’ funeral bathing rites.
Police said Friday that Yusob and Prasit were victims of insurgency and are still questioning eyewitnesses, though no arrests have been made yet.
Violence has been plaguing the region on an almost daily basis since 2004, claiming up to 6,300 lives so far.
