Thailand less attractive to Japanese firms

Only 35 per cent of Japanese enterprises operating in Thailand plan to increase their investment in the Kingdom, according to a survey by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Bangkok.

Over half, 57 per cent, said they had no interest in expanding into special economic zones, given the massive amount of investment by over 4,500 Japanese companies in Thailand pouring into the country in the past decades.
The survey showed that 37 per cent of the enterprises aim to downsize their investment in the country while 24 per cent plan to maintain the investment size.
