He said the government was satisfied with the operation and performance of most villages that received the fund as it helped generate more jobs and income for villagers. Of the 79,000 villages earmarked to receive Bt1 million, 18,566 have not yet received the fund due to poor operations, he said.
Although the government wanted to stimulate the economy, it did not want villagers to create bad debts from careless spending, he said.
The government is planning to have advisers give financial advice to the managers of the Village Fund at particular villages, he said, adding that the advise will centre on accounting, loan extensions, funds mobilisation and savings.
