Prem voices support for Prayut and his govt

PRIVY COUNCIL president General Prem Tinsulanonda yesterday expressed confidence in the ability of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan to bring about national unity even though people in the country may have sharply
He was speaking at his Si Sao Theves residence on the occasion of his 95th birthday before high-ranking government officials, businessmen, the military top brass and the new Prayut Cabinet who had all turned up at his residence to wish him well.
Prem told them that he was proud of Prayut and Prawit and had confidence in them and the military top brass for their display of loyalty, unity and sacrifice.
“As long as the military is strong and united, I am confident the PM, Khun Pom [Prawit] and others will succeed [in bringing about reconciliation] no matter how difficult the task. This will be a gift for all Thais and a merit for His Majesty the King,’’ Prem said.
“I thank the prime minister, Khun Pom and the military commanders to continue their unity and love because this will bring about honour to our military institution and the government. We will be happy despite the exhaustion, difficulty and sacrifice for the Thai people,’’ he said.
Prem spent 20 minutes with Prayut, the six deputy premiers and the Cabinet.
