Ukrainian nabbed with fake ATM cards, cash

A Ukrainian has been arrested in Thailand after using fake ATM cards to withdraw more than Bt1 million in cash this month.
Ruslan Lazariev, 37, allegedly confessed to the crimes and revealed that he had two other accomplices.
Police are now trying to hunt down the two other suspects.
Rusland was nabbed earlier this week as he was about to withdraw more cash from an automatic teller machine (ATM) in front of a convenience store in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district.
Found in his possession were 48 fake ATM cards, Bt200,000 cash, a computer notebook, a cell-phone and a note containing ATM passwords.
The fake cards had relied on passwords skimmed from ATM users in the United States and Europe, according to ongoing investigations.
Rusland travelled into Thailand on September 5 with his two friends. They had planned to head back to their home country later this month.
“Siam Commercial Bank has alerted us about suspicious activities,” Crime Suppression Division chief Pol Maj General Akaradej Pimonsri said.
Police have now charged Rusland with falsifying |electronic information in a way that caused damage to others.
