Campaign launched against "Abat" censorship

A campaign against the Culture Ministry's decision to ban the screening of "Abat" the movie has won an overwhelming public support.

The campaign, posted on www.change.org, was launched yesterday - hours after the ministry's film censorship board reached the decision.
As of 1pm, the campaign has won supports from 77,027 online users. The campaigner aims to draw 150,000 users, to back up its request for the screening of the film without censorship. The campaigner, named Worakasem Rungmekarat, said the movie shines light on degradation in Buddhism in Thailand and should raise awareness in protecting the religion among Buddhist followers.
