More companies certified for anti-corruption practices

Eleven more companies are certified by the private sector Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption (CAC) for their compliance to anti-corruption guidelines.

The number of the certified companies has risen to 133.
CAC also witnessed an increase in its member companies from 4016 last year to 525, in line with its plan to boost the number to 600 at this year's end.
"The certification in this round was extended under the more stringent process," said Bandid Nijathaworn, secretary-general of the CAC. "The increase in members also indicated the private sector's growing awareness in corruption. To ensure the clean business environment, it requires cooperation and concrete actions by private companies."
From July 1, to be certified, a member must fully comply with the CAC guidelines within 18 months. They are also subjected to re-certification process after three years.
