50% increase in Myanmar-Thai border trade

Yangon - Myanmar-Thai border trade value from April to October increased by 50 per cent to US$601.73 million, according to the Commerce Ministry.

The value in the same period last year was $407.5 million.

On Myanmar side, there were seven border trade zones - Kengtung, Techileik, Myawady, Kawthaung, Myeik, Nabulal/HteeKhee and Mawtaung.

Myawady was the busiest gate, boasting $378.195 million in trade during the period.

Trade value at other zones are: $102.560 million in Myeik, $61.31 million in Kawthaung, $40.67 million in Techileik, $9.5 million in Nabulal/Hteekhee, $8.63 million in Kengtung, and $0.87 million in Mawtaung.

Out of 15 border trade zones in Myanmar, most are located along Myanmar-Thai border but trade with China is the highest.
