Myanmar's election good for Asean: Surin

The November 8 election in Myanmar marked a good start for the country as well as Asean, said Surin Pitsuwan, former secretary-general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).

He expects that Myanmar economy will continue to grow and it will become one of the strongest and most attractive investment destinations among foreigners.
“Many foreign countries will eye more on expanding trade and investment in Myanmar," he said.
As its neighbour, Thailand should take this opportunity to outline clear strategies to penetrate the market, he said.
