59 officials suspended from duty

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has invoked Article 44 of the interim charter to suspend 59 officials from duty pending investigations against them for alleged malfeasance.
The suspension order was announced in the Royal Gazette on Tuesday.
It was the third time that Prayuth invoked Article 44 as the chief of the National Council for Peace and Order to suspend local political officers and government officials from duty pending investigations.
Those suspended from duty in the latest round included Sumet Yaemnoon, acting rector of Walailak University, Aram Siriphan, head of the Public Administration Department of Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Political Science, and Apichart Thanomsup, director of the legal cases division of the Anti-Money Laundering Office.
