Yingluck’s witnesses allowed written testimony

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-Ngam said Thursday that ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra would be allowed to have defence witnesses submit written testimony to the fact-finding panel examining her civil liability related to the rice-pledging schem

Yingluck had requested the panel accept the testimony of 18 additional witnesses.
Wissanu said the panel had decided not to allow the additional witnesses to testify in court for fear of delaying proceedings, so testimony would only be accepted in written form. He added that the witnesses would submit their testimony in March and April.
The panel is examining civil liability claims for damages against Yingluck, former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom and various private companies as result of the rice-pledging scheme. The panel has until the end of February to file lawsuits against private companies within its one-year mandate.
Wissanu said the panel could file suit against companies separately without having first to determine damages against Boonsong.
