Three killed in train-truck collision

Three people were killed yesterday when a passenger train collided with a truck carrying cattle in Phetchburi province. The train heading from Thon Buri station to Chumphon’s Langsuan station was derailed as a result of the impact.

At the scene of the accident, police found five of the nine compartments at the side of the track.

The accident also injured about 30 passengers, police said. The victims included the driver of the truck.
The initial investigation found that the truck had a malfunctioning brake, resulting in its slamming into a barrier blocking the traffic and hitting the passing train.
The truck was heading to Phetchburi’s Muang district.
