A 69-year-old man, with the eminent family name “Sanitwong na Ayudhaya”, was found dead in an apparent suicide in his Bang Khen district home in Bangkok yesterday apparently stressed over the sliding stock market.

Following the suicide report at 8am, police rushed to a house in Soi Ram-Indra 19 to inspect the body of Sam Sanitwong na Ayudhaya. He had cuts on both his hands. His wife reportedly told police that Sam had been suffering from immense stress and had reportedly told her earlier this month to hide a gun from him, as he feared he might kill himself due to the stress.
She said a maid woke her up at around 5am after she got no response to her knocks on the bathroom door that was locked from inside. When they used a spare key, they found Sam’s body inside. The relatives did not have any suspicions over his death and believed it to be a case of suicide. The body is being sent for religious rites, police said.
