Dead monk ‘innocent of money charges’

Phra Brahmasutee, who was believed to have killed himself out of stress earlier this week, was not found guilty of fund embezzlement, according to probes conducted by several agencies.

He had been suspended from his post as the Wat Saket abbot in the face of the allegations.
On Monday, monks at Wat Saket said Phra Brahmasutee hanged himself and died.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreangam said Tuesday that several agencies had launched the probes into the allegations against Phra Brahmasutee.
“Although he had taken portions of money allocated to fund the cremation of Somdej Phra Buddhacarya (Kiaw Upaseno), he had explained that he just borrowed them and returned the money after allegations against him arose,” Wissanu said, “[As a result], the probes have found him not guilty”.
