Prayut backs appointed Senate for 5 years

Prime Minister Prayut Chanocha Thursday voiced support for appointed senators to work with elected members of Parliament for five years after the election in order to ensure “a balance” in government during the transition.
Prayut said that without appointed senators, “the country would see no stability and would not be able to move forward”.
It was the first time that the prime minister publicly supported the idea.
