British tourist, Thai wife rescued on Chon Buri sea

A 75-year-old British tourist and his Thai wife were rescued on the Chon Buri sea late Thursday night.

The First Naval Area Command dispatched a rescue boat to the sea near Koh Ira off the Toey Ngam beach in the Marine Bay of Sattahib district at ten minutes after midnight after it was alerted by the Sri Racha marine traffic centre that a yacht of a foreign tourist had sunk in the area.
The naval rescuers found Lamon Luggman, his Thai wife, Ubolrat Nikornpol, 49, on a rubber raft.
The Thai woman said they left the Ocean Marina in Pattaya at 10 am heading to Koh Samed but when night fell, her husband lost the direction and let the yacht float. But the yacht hit a rock and sank so they took the raft and radioed for help.
