Surapong: Draft likely to be rejected in referendum

Former foreign minister Surapong Towichakchaikul Sunday warned the National Council for Peace and Order that the draft constitution is likely to be rejected in the national referendum in July.

Surapong said the proposal to have “selected senators” function as a special mechanism for the NCPO for five years has met strong opposition even from the Democrat Party.
He said the Democrat shared the same stand with the Pheu Thai against the appointed Senate.
“It seems the NCPO is reaching a dead-end,” Surapong said.
