The prosecution yesterday filed human trafficking charges against three Thai nationals – two men and a woman – following investigation into the case.
The defendants, whose names are withheld to protect the victim’s identity, are accused of exploiting a 17-year-old girl, also a Thai national, through prostitution activities some time in early March.
The defendants are all in their mid-40s.
The 47-year-old woman is facing charges of offering the teenager for sexual services on March 5.
Meanwhile, one of the defendants, a 46-year old man, is accused of profiting from exploiting the teenager and a charge of hiring out the teenager for the purpose of prostitution between March 6 and March 9 this year.
The court document further states that a 44-year-old man, who was jointly charged with the two others, is facing a charge of transporting the victim for purposes of exploitation. He drove her to the place where she was to provide sexual service between March 6 and March 9 this year.
During the proceedings yesterday, the case was submitted to the High Court where the charges and plea will be taken.
The court ordered the three defendants to be further remanded at Jerudong Prison pending the proceedings at the High Court.
