Referendum bill passed in final reading

The National Legislative Assembly Thursday passed the charter referendum bill in the third reading.

The bill was passed with 171 to 1 votes. Three NLA members abstained.
The NLA spent over five hours to deliberate the bill in the second reading before giving it the final approval.
Among other things, the bill will hand down 10-year jail term and/or a maximum fine of Bt200,000 to anyone that causes disturbance to the referendum or deceive or block others from casting vote.
