One killed, eight injured in truck-train crash

A garbage truck driver was killed when his struck slammed into a passenger train in Surat Thani, Tuesday morning. Eight others were also injured in the accident.
Police said the accident happened at a rail crossing in Surat Thani’s Punpin district at 6:30 pm.
Police said the garbage truck, driven by Pongpol Saelim, 44, hit the last car of the Surat Thani-Sungai Kolok train apparently at full speed when the training was passing the crossing.
Most of the injured were staffs of the train, police said.
Police said the truck driver might doze off and did not stop the truck at the crossing.
