A British man allegedly crashed his Mercedes Benz into the rear of a pickup truck resulting in the death of its two occupants in Chiang Mai’s San Sai district on Wednesday night.

Following the accident at 11.30pm, police rushed to the Chiang Mai-Doi Saket Road in Tambon Sannameng to find the bodies of Pattaraporn Inthajak and Janthiang Changprakob at the scene. The Briton had fled.
San Sai deputy superintendent Pol Lt-Colonel Pongsak Reunkaew said police found the passport of British national Simon Wellings, believed to be the driver, inside the car along with a computer notebook and money. Another sedan, which was tailing the Benz, also couldn’t stop in time and ended up hitting the truck. The sedan driver Sukij Simakul was slightly injured.
