THAI Smile to take over Asean routes from THAI

Thai Airways International is transferring flights to Chongqing, China and Penang, Malaysia over to its subsidiary, THAI Smile Airways.

It also plans to transfer more new routes in Southeast Asia to THAI Smile, including Surabaya and Medan in Indonesia, and Cebu in The Philippines.
"The transfer of flights to THAI Smile follows the corporate strategic plan for THAI Smile to operate to secondary cities in Asean and the region, while THAI focuses on marketing and sales," THAI President Charamporn Jotikasthira said in a statement.
For the first two routes, the transfer will take effect next month. Starting July 1, THAI Smile will operate daily flights with the A320 aircraft to Chongqing, China and from July 16, daily flights to Penang, Malaysia.
Currently, THAI Smile operates to nine domestic destinations from Bangkok – Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Phuket, Surat Thani, Hat Yai, and Narathiwat.
