IMF maintains Asean growth forecast

The International Monetary Fund has maintained the economic growth forecast for Asean-5, which includes Thailand, though citing greater risks from "Brexit" on the global economy.

The forecasts for Asean in 2016 and 2017 stayed unchanged from the April World Economic Outlook (WEO), at 4.8 per cent and 5.1 per cent, respectively.
Asean-5 comprises Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
The updated WEO was released in Washington on Tuesday night. It revised down the global economic growth forecasts in 2016-2017 by 0.1 percentage points to 3.1 per cent and 3.4 per cent, respectively. Prospects remained diverse across emerging market and developing economies, the IMF noted.
