Sanit has in fact been at the helm of the bureau since last October but during the past months he had officially served only as the bureau’s acting chief.
“His appointment as Metropolitan Police Commissioner shall take effect retroactively from the day he was appointed as acting chief,” Deputy National Police Commissioner Pol General Pongsapat Pongcharoen announced Wednesday.
According to Pongsapat, National Police Commissioner Pol General Chaktip Chaijinda nominated Sanit for the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s top post at a police commission meeting Wednesday, highlighting the fact that Sanit had delivered well on police policies.
