At the Saturday funeral at Wat Pho Nimit of Jongkolnee Phumkrajang, 51, who was killed in the bombing in front of the Surat Thani marine police office, her daughter Ajjima Saenyakorn, 25, and son Kampanart Saenyakorn, 22, terafully recalled that the family comprised of only them and the mother who had raised them both on her own alone since Ajjima was two.
"That morning, I asked my mum what she wanted to eat later for the National Mother's Day but she said it was ok because she needed to rush to work first and will cook something to eat together when she returned. Then I got a phone call that my mum died in the bombing. I was shocked and didn't know what to do," Ajjima recalled adding that she didn't even look up bombing images people were sharing on the Facebook as it was too painful to watch.
"If you lost your mum on the National Mother's Day, how would you feel?" she asked those behind the attacks. "Now I think my mum is resting and feeling no more pain while people she loved sent wreaths for her funeral including Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha or veteran politician Suthep Thaugsuban," she said.
The family would organise the cremation ritual for Jongkolnee on August 18.
