No connection between Pattani and tourist spot attacks

There is no connection between a fatal bomb attack in Pattani province last night and a series of recent violence on popular tourist spots in the upper south, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said Wednesday.

"I am confident that the attacks in Pattani last night has nothing to do with the seven provinces attacks," Prawit told reporters.

The first explosion in a parking lot at the back of the hotel in Pattani caused no casualties. However, the second blast outside the hotel entrance killed a woman and injured many others.

It appeared that militants hid bombs in a hospital ambulance that was driven to the attack scene.
