Huge arsenal of insurgents seized in Narathiwat

A 36-strong team from the 45th Ranger Regiment seized explosives and bomb-making components from a forest in Narathiwat's Ra Ngae district Tuesday morning.

It was suspected that the items belonged to a group led by wanted man Arong Deuramae and tht they were kept there in preparation to create more attacks in Ra Ngae.
The two-hour search since 7am in forest behind Ban Klu Ko village in Tambon Bor Ngor stemmed from some residents' tipoff. They told the authorities they spotted  a group of suspicious men hiding in the forest.
Although the men had fled by the time the officers were there, the officers found a blacked-painted Honda motorcycle - later identified as the motorbike of Wannapa Phromka who was shot dead on July 29 in the same district - along with two already-assembled bombs, a grenade, some electrical circuit boards, a shotgun with ammunition, AK47 magazines and three communication radios. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers later disposed the two explosives and grenade.
