Doi Inthanon sees first frost of the year

A large number of tourists Monday morning woke up to a glistening vista of this year’s first winter frost covering Doi Inthanon, the country’s highest point at 2,565 metres above sea level, in Chiang Mai’s Chom Thong district.

As temperatures at Doi Inthanon National Park plunged, the frost covered bushes along the five-kilometre Kew Mae Pan Trail leading to the mountain’s peak, said park head assistant Wutthipong Dongkhamfoo.
Tourists welcomed the sight by taking photographs, which were shared on social media, before the frozen dew disappeared with the sunrise.
