Police nab Malaysian suspect over gold shop burglary

Police brought a 53-year-old Malaysian man, who is believed to have carried out the January 6 robbery of a gold shop in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district where Bt2.3 million worth of gold ornaments were stolen, to apply for a court detention order Thursday.

Malaysian police representatives also met the suspect Thursday to collect fingerprints for comparison to evidence related to at least 10 theft and murder cases in both countries. The cases include a Butterworth gold shop burglary in which jewellery worth 6.4 million ringgit was stolen.
