Additional budget bill sails through NLA

The National Legislative Assembly completed three readings of the draft bill for an additional Bt190-billion budget for the current fiscal year during its session Friday.

Somchai Sawaengkarn, a member of the NLA whip’s office, said the meeting had been able to complete three consecutive readings of the bill in one day’s sitting.
According to the legal draft for the Bt190-billion additional budget, about Bt162 billion will be directed to proceed with the urgent policy of strengthening the domestic economy with sustainability and developing the grass-roots economy and making communities stronger.
Of Bt162-billion budget plan, Bt115 billion will be used for an integration plan for strengthening the domestic economy with sustainability, Bt15 billion for village funds and national urban communities, and Bt10 billion to finance a fund for enhancing the nation’s competitiveness for the government’s targeted industries.
The other Bt22 billion will be set aside as a contingency fund.
The remaining Bt27 billion of the overall Bt190-billion additional budget will be used to offset the treasury balance, as required by laws for allowance, pension and medical fees for civil servants and state employees.
