Giving a speech on the topic of politics and Thai economy management at King Prajadhipok’s institute, Abhisit said coal-fired power plants are no longer needed to provide energy security for the country.
He said the government should instead focus on alternative power developments.
“In a few days, the prime miniser will make a decision on the coal-fired power plant project in Krabi. Let me put it straight. If you decide to build it, and if I become the government again and if I can, I’ll cancel it,” Abhisit said.
He said the government should instead considering building palm-oil power plant.
