Prayut insists Article 44 still needed

Once again, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday stressed that his superpower by the interim charter’s Article 44 needs to be enforced to facilitate authority forces to effectively control Dhammakaya Temple and its surroundings.
His comment came after an urging statement by the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies (IHRP) calling for Prayut and his junta government to stop using such absolute power, considered by the IHRP to lack check-and-balance principle and not go by rules of law.
Earlier on Sunday, Prayut also said that the special order is needed when the normal laws are ineffective for dealing with certain situations.
