Sacked Palace official questioned over forest encroachment

Former deputy national police chief Pol General Jumpol Manmai turned himself in to the Crime Suppression Division police in Bangkok on Thursday to hear the charge of forest encroachment.

He was questioned by police in relation to the accusation that he encroached on Thap Lan National Park in the northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province’s Wang Nam Khiew district.
Jumpol, who appeared stressed, was accompanied by deputy police chief Pol General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul and investigators as he underwent a physical check-up by a doctor from the Police General Hospital. He is to be sent for further legal proceedings at the Nakhon Ratchasima provincial court later on Thursday.
On Monday, the Royal Household Bureau sacked Jumpol, 66, as grand chamberlain in charge of security and special affairs.
