Work on motorway projects ‘hastened’

The Highways Department has sped up the construction works for three motorway projects, according to its director general Thanin Somboon.

He said the 196-kilometre Bang Pa-In to Saraburi to Nakhon Ratchasima motorway project’s construction is 1.3 per cent completed, short of the 3 per cent targeted. The project costs Bt76.6 billion.
The Pattaya-Map Taphut motorway project, 32-km long and costing B17.82 billion, is 25 per cent complete, Thanin said.
Thanin said 19 contracts for the 96-km Bang Yai-Kanchanaburi motorway project, worth Bt49.12 billion, had been signed and the remaining six contracts would be inked this month.
“The department will speed up the project to complete its construction work by 2019,” the director general said.
