Kasikorn Research Centre believes the US Federal Reserve will increase the country’s benchmark interest rate 0.25 per cent when its meets on Wednesday, given the recovering US economy.
The current rate is 0.75 per cent.
The centre said doing so would weaken the baht against the dollar, as capital outflow would rise.
However, it said Thailand has strong financial accounting reserves and as a result the impact would be limited.
