Woman, 71, arrested 12 years after warrant issued

Police on Sunday arrested a 71-year-old woman, absconding since 2005, in Bangkok’s Sai Mai district for alleged involvement in procuring workers to work overseas without a permit.
The arrest warrants for Nipaporn Naowarat had been issued by a court in Phu Khieo district, Chaiyaphum province, in April 2005.
Pol Colonel Theerachai Chamnarnmor said police nationwide have been ordered to arrest fugitives during the Songkran festival.
“After checking the arrest warrants for Nipaporn and her whereabouts, we found that she lived in Sai Mai district. She was arrested while walking in a soi,” Theerachai said.
The suspect will be sent to Phu Khieo for questioning.
