Pol Colonel Chart Ngarnpithak, commander of the Ban Pho police station, said he had set up a coin-operated washing machine at the station and the proceeds were being used to provide meals for his subordinates.
He said initially he provided only lunches but now the programme had expanded to cover all meals at the station. He said he personally paid for the water and power for the washing machine and used all the money it generated for the welfare programme.
Chart also pays for 40 bottles of fresh milk each morning for his subordinates or ordinary people who come to the police station.
He said one of his rookie policemen produced fresh milk for sale to earn extra income so he ordered 40 bottles a day to help him.
