Phichit temporary bridge dismantled as river level rises

The temporary bridge erected in Phichit is being dismantled amid a threat of damage from rising water levels in the Nan River rising due to heavy rain.

Construction workers were removing the structure at Tambon Dongpakham in Phicit’s Mueang District, as water levels increased rapidly, sweeping rubbish and wood against the bridge. There were concerns it might collapse under the weight.
Heavy rain in the province caused the water level in the Nan River to increase up to 10 centimetres per hour. The water level was already 7.63 metres deep, only three metres below the overflow point.
During the recent days, many provinces in the North have faced heavy rain, with flooding in Chiang Mai.
