Police on Friday arrested a man who allegedly snatched a bag from a nurse as she rode her motorcycle to work in Chon Buri’s Mueang district, causing her to fall off and suffer head injuries that left her in a coma.
Wichit Sisawat was arrested at a condominium after police traced his motorcycle’s escape route on CCTV footage.
Nurse Nanthaporn Boonprasop, 21, was riding to the Chon Buri Cancer Centre hospital about 6.30 am on Tuesday when the incident happened. She has remained in coma since and had two brain operations.
Wichit allegedly admitted that he spotted the nurse riding past him and followed her, expecting her bag would contain valuables. The bag contained Bt300 in cash and an iPhone 6.
Police recovered the jacket, helmet and shoes that Wichit allegedly wore when the robbery took place.
