Muang district police give relief bags to underprivileged

Police in Samut Songkhram’s Muang district handed out relief bags containing food and commodity items to 199 underprivileged persons to make merits for His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn on the occasion of his 65th birthday on Friday.

The recipients included 58-year-old Wandee Mungkhamen who worked as toilet-cleaner at a temple to take care of herself and 43 pet dogs that she rescued from the streets. Her touching story made headlines in Thai newspapers and social media.
The ceremony to hand out the bags, each worth Bt600, was held in front of the Muang Samut Songkhram Police Station. Police officers and family members also provided free meals and a free haircut service to participants.
